Common sense is not so common.

We might just be doing anything with someone and we catch he/she doing something wrong, we get annoyed because that shouldn’t have happened, moreover “it’s common sense”. Haven’t we noticed that common sense, just as Voltaire say, isn’t as common as it appears to be? Are we just ignoring that reality? What’s going on? Is common sense reserved for those with a certain education level?

I don’t think that we are ignorants and/or stupid and/or are ignoring this crude reality, I just think that common sense depends on the ambiance one’s involved. According to Wikipedia, what I have affirmed is true, since they define common sense as:

Common sense (or, when used attributively as an adjective, commonsense, common-sense, or commonsensical), based on a strict construction of the term, consists of what people in common would agree on: that which they “sense” as their common natural understanding.

So, what’s common in China might not be what people would agree on in the US, however, there is an universally-known common sense that some people might actually ignore: do not waste water, do not litter, do not harm others, etc.

Think about it.
